Jean-Baptiste “The Voyageur” guided tour
Suggested content: students will experience the history of this former trading post through a colourful adventurer who will take them back in time to the fur trade.
- Outdoor and indoor guided tour
- Introduction to the development of the fur trade and its economic rivalries
- Presentation of the usefulness and handling of certain trade items
- Presentation of the tasks of the voyageurs and the fort's inhabitants (their respective trades)
- Description of the differences between furs
- Overview of the components of a birchbark canoe
Target groups: grades 3 to 6 of elementary school, and high school
