For the kids
National parks are working together to make sure Atlantic salmon are around for many years to come. Parks Canada’s scientists are helping grow the number of salmon in the wild and improve the places where salmon live.
Meet Plamu
Hi, my name is Plamu!
I live in the Atlantic Ocean with the other Atlantic salmon.
You might recognize the name “Atlantic salmon.” That is the English form of my name.
In English we say Atlantic salmon and in Mi’kmaq we say Plamu.
Atlantic salmon are very important to Mi’kmaq people and to nature. Over the last twenty years, fewer and fewer salmon have been found in the rivers. This means we all need to work together to keep other Atlantic salmon safe.
