Banff National Park

Have your say on the Lake Minnewanka Area Plan!

What is happening?

Delivering on direction in the 2022 Banff National Park Management Plan, Parks Canada is initiating development of the Lake Minnewanka Area Plan. An area plan is a guiding document that will set long-term direction for managing the Lake Minnewanka Area. The planning process will include an environmental study to evaluate how the plan will affect the environment, called a Strategic Environmental Assessment.

On Friday, August 23, 2024, Parks Canada is launching public engagement to support the first stage of the planning process. At this stage, we are focusing on gathering information, identifying priorities, and scoping the plan. Parks Canada would like to hear what is important to you about the area. Your input, along with those of Indigenous Peoples and Canadians, will help shape the plan.
