Protecting the natural heritage of Gwaii Haanas is a key management goal and will ensure that the ecological integrity of Gwaii Haanas is maintained.

Parks Canada and its partners are committed to maintaining the ecological integrity of Gwaii Haanas.

A long-term monitoring program tracks a series of measures within key ecosystems, including forests, alpine tundra areas, wetlands, freshwater and coastal and marine ecosystems.

Trends in ecosystem health are identified and inform management actions.

Trends in the state of cultural resources integrity and visitor experience are also monitored.

Gwaii Haanas collaborates with a wide range of universities, researchers, and non-governmental organizations to conduct science and research and to undertake management actions, such as ecological and cultural heritage restoration.
