Wapusk National Park protects a mixture of habitat characteristic of the Hudson Bay Lowlands which is a mosaic of boreal forest, coastal fens, salt marshes and barren tundra. Additionally, Wapusk National Park protects a portion of shoreline and mudflats that become exposed in the summer during daily tidal cycles. These diverse habitats allow more than 200 different bird species to utilize different areas of the park throughout the year.

Rare Birds: Exploring the open tundra and shoreline of Wapusk near Cape Churchill, birding enthusiasts can come across snow geese, red-throated loons, gyrfalcons, Hudsonian godwits and many more.
