Wapusk National Park
Weather in the North is harsh and can change quickly. Snowstorms can happen at any time of year, and visitors can encounter conditions including severe thunderstorms, ice fog and high winds while in the park. It is important to be prepared for adverse weather and account for the risk of hypothermia to ensure safety when visiting Wapusk National Park.
Winter
Winter spans late October to early May. The average December and January temperature is -26°C (-15°F), but it can drop as low as -45°C (-49°F).
Summer
During the Wapusk summer (June, July and August) temperatures can range from a low of -10°C (14°F) to highs of 35°C (95°F), and may plunge 20 degrees in less than an hour.
Shoulder seasons
In May, temperatures will range from -10°C (14°F) to 20°C (68°F). September and October are often stormy, with temperatures usually ranging from -25°C (-13°F) to 15°C (59°F).
