The original cart patch connecting the logging villages of Goose River and Point Wolfe remains intact and largely unchanged as the Goose River Trail. The 11.3 km trail leads you from the Point Wolfe parking lot, up into the Fundy highlands and back down to sea level at Goose River, through some of the oldest forest in the Park.
Backcountry campsites along the trail and on Goose River beach are some of the most beloved in the Park; have you ever experienced the sun rise from your own private beach?
Goose River Trail also serves to connect hikers to the Fundy Footpath, a 41 km coastal wilderness trek from Fundy National Park to the Big Salmon River, near St. Martins, New Brunswick. The Fundy Footpath traverses the longest undeveloped stretch of coastline on the eastern seaboard, and is maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers through the Fundy Hiking Trail Association. Be Prepared!
- Know your physical limits; Fundy’s wilderness is famous for its rugged cliffs and river valleys. Choose a trail that is challenging but enjoyable for you.
- Pack for comfort and safety: A sweater and a windbreaker are good insurance against variable weather. We recommend footwear with good traction and support. Pack fresh water and a snack, even if you’re planning a short hike.
- Plan your route and stick to it. Let someone know where you plan on hiking and your estimated time of return.
- For your own safety and to preserve the ecological integrity of our Park, stay on marked trails.
- Leave no trace! Please carry out all garbage, yours and any you may find on the trail.
