Kouchibouguac National Park is a bird watcher's paradise, home to hundreds of bird species, including the majestic Great Blue Heron, the graceful Common Tern, the impressive Osprey, and the iconic Bald Eagle.

With each season comes a unique bird watching experience, from the spring return of migratory songbirds, to the summer sightings of shorebirds along the park's saltwater lagoons, to the fall migration of raptors and waterfowl, to the winter sightings during the Annual Christmas Bird Count.

The park's diverse ecosystems provide habitat for a variety of bird species. The forests and wetlands are home to the Lincoln's Sparrow and the Yellow Warbler, while the beaches and lagoons are frequented by a variety of shorebirds, including Sandpipers, Plovers, and Terns. Birders can explore the park's trails and waterways to observe these species in their natural habitat.

Annual Christmas bird count

The Annual Christmas Bird Count, a citizen science initiative to track bird populations, takes place in mid-December and is a great opportunity for birders of all levels to contribute to ongoing research while enjoying the beauty of the park in the winter.
