Park Purpose and Objectives
2.01 Purpose of the park
The purpose of the Park is to protect for all time a representative natural area of Canadian significance in the Western Arctic Lowlands Natural Region, and to encourage public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the area so as to leave it unimpaired for future generations while permitting subsistence usage and trapping by Inuvialuit.
2.02 Goals of the Inuvialuit
The Parties recognize that the establishment of the Park according to this Agreement conforms with the cultural, economic and environmental goals expressed by the Inuvialuit in the IFA .
2.03 Objective of this agreement
This agreement is intended to set out the rights and obligations of the Parties with respect to the establishment, management, operation and use of the Park. Articles 7, 8 and 9 of this Agreement are intended to assist the Inuvialuit to attain their economic goals set out in sections 1 and 16 of the IFA .
