Learn more about the timeline of the Tip Tower project and frequently asked questions.

The restoration of Tip Tower is nearly complete, and members of the public are once again able to access this popular viewing space. Below is more information about the milestone moments of the restoration:

  • Engineering assessments to establish safety deficiencies and validate structural integrity are complete, December 2023.
  • Design work which remedies the identified deficiencies in the guard rail system. Completed in Winter 2023-24.
  • A competitive tendering process to assist with the repairs was launched through the government online system, CanadaBuys. Completed in February 2024.
  • A contract for the work to the guard railing system was awarded to Heritage Restoration Inc., May 3, 2024.
  • Shop drawings are complete and reviewed, June 2024.
  • Project materials have been ordered, June 2024.
  • Fabrication work at an off-site facility has started, June 2024.
  • Construction work onsite has started, August 2024.
  • Offsite guardrail fabrication completed, September 2024.
  • The Tip Tower project is 80% completed, November 2024.
  • Construction work on the Tip Tower has reached substantial completion. It is now able to be safely opened to the public, February 2025.

The next steps in the project are as follows:

  • The Tip Tower will continue to have cosmetic work and final details to be finished over the coming weeks.
