Dress appropriately for the weather and wear supportive footwear to avoid injuries.
Protect yourself from the elements. Bring sunscreen, a hat and bug spray during warmer seasons and extra layers when the weather is cooler.
Pack rain gear.
Bring a personal refillable water bottle and snacks. A water refill station is available at the Visitor Centre. There are light snacks available at the Marsh Boardwalk store and at the Nature Nook
Bookstore at the Visitor Centre. Keep in mind there is no place to purchase meals inside the park. Plan to bring enough food for your entire visit. Refreshments are also available for purchase at the Campground Store (hours vary).
Bring a cell phone and ensure it is charged. Keep in mind that most of the park does not have reception. Always let someone know where you are and be sure to check in when you regain connectivity.
Check trail distance in our Visitor Guide to ensure you have enough time to finish your trail hike before dark.
Stay on trail to protect habitats and to avoid contact with hazards such as poison ivy, ticks, and/or wildlife.
Keep pets on leash to help ensure they don’t disturb wildlife and reduce the risk of hazards. Pets should be kept on a leash, maximum 6ft. More information on hiking with pets.
Don’t collect! Take only photos and leave only footprints. Bring a bag for garbage and pack up all of your belongings when you leave. Garbage and recycling bins are available throughout the park.
Be aware of other visitors and share the trail with cyclists.
Feeding any animal is strictly prohibited. Avoid the danger of being bitten and minimize your affect on the park’s ecological balance.
