Conservation

The Minganie region abounds in human activities since the 17^th century. Historically, the exploitation of natural resources in the Mingan Archipelago was intensive, with boats coming from all over to fish, hunt and gather eggs. The commercial trade of feathers, eggs and fur was also profitable back in the days. Since the use of resources has not always been regulated, these practices had significant impact on the environment and its inhabitants.

Since its creation, the Resource Conservation team has supported Parks Canada's mission by ensuring the protection and restoration of the ecological integrity of the Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve, while allowing visitors to explore this beautiful place. This also allows native and non-native people of the region to appreciate what the territory of Minganie has to offer and to participate in numerous traditional and recreational activities.
