Announcement - Departure of Réa McKay

Dear colleagues,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that Réa McKay, Vice-President of Human Resources and Employee Wellness (HREW), will be embarking on an exciting new career challenge as the Assistant Deputy Minister, Human Resources Service Branch at Employment and Social Development Canada, home to some 40, 000 federal public servants. I will very much miss Réa's leadership, friendship and “here to help” presence at Parks Canada and I am proud to cheer her on as she takes this next step forward on her career path.

During Réa’s tenure with us, HREW has made significant contributions to Parks Canada, including the renewal of our Terms and Conditions of Employment for employees, the launch of multiple national recruitment inventories and the HR Staffing Service Desk JIRA solution, the implementation of our Mental Health Strategy and Action Plan, as well as the renewal of our Values and Ethics Code. Réa’s leadership and vision have been instrumental in the creation of tools, strategies and initiatives to ensure we have a diverse and inclusive workforce, and her positive influence on HR relations across the organization will be felt for years to come.

Réa’s last day at Parks Canada will be September 6, 2024. Following her departure, Karine Renoux has kindly accepted to act as Vice-President of HREW until further notice.

Please join me in wishing Réa tremendous best wishes in her new role and in providing Karine with our continued support.

Ron Hallman

President & Chief Executive Officer
