Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site
Signed at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site between the Ojibway, Swampy Cree, and the Crown, Treaty No. 1 paved the way for establishing a relationship between the Crown and Indigenous peoples. As the first treaty, it set the precedent that allowed Canada's settlement and sovereignty as a nation.
