Methodology — Engagement

A diverse range of partners and stakeholders were engaged to develop the methods and map of priority areas for ecological corridors in Canada. The map is strengthened by inclusion of many forms of knowledge and perspectives. Engagement involved:

  • Indigenous partners and Knowledge holders
  • provincial and local governments
  • research scientists
  • landscape and connectivity experts/practitioners
  • academics
  • national and regional conservation organizations
  • public

A key learning gained from engagement was the need to consider many competing ideas, priorities, values and threats related to connectivity conservation in the analyses. There will never be a perfect model or solution. Therefore, the methods and data used are innovative, holistic and as transparent as possible.
