oTENTiks are a unique Parks Canada accommodation providing a relaxing, comfortable and easy way to camp! A cross between an A-frame cabin and a prospector tent, up on a raised wooden floor, these permanent shelters are ready for your arrival! There are five oTENTiks in the Cedar Spring campground on Beausoleil Island, making them a great base to explore the island and have a fun vacation!

- 5 reservable oTENTiks
- Maximum occupancy: 4 people
- Inside each tent:
- Two-queen sized and one double-sized bed with high density foam mattresses
- A table and chairs
- Fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Broom and dustpan
- Please note: there is no plumbing, running water or electricity in the oTENTiks
- 20 cubic ft food storage locker, can accommodate one standard cooler and dry food
- Central comfort station with showers and flush toilets
- Composting toilets available near outlying sites
- Potable water taps through out the campground
- Communal picnic shelters
- Firepit with a grill and picnic table at each site
- A camp stove with propane
- Ice and firewood for sale
- Food storage lockers
- Carts can be borrowed to move equipment from the drop off dock to your site
Access to the island is by boat only.
Boat Transportation for oTENTiks is included and pre-arranged for each reservation, for up to 4 guests.
How much does it cost?
Fees for an oTENTik rental at Cedar Spring Campground include:
- Island camping - oTENTik, Cedar Spring
- Reservation fee
- Daily admission (paid upon arrival)
Please note that transportation to and from Beausoleil Island from Honey Harbour and parking for one vehicle is included in the oTENTik rental fee.
Fee update: Beginning in 2025, all visitors to Georgian Bay Islands National Park will have to pay a daily admission fee in addition to other applicable fees.
What should you bring?

- Sleeping bags and pillows
- Flashlight, lantern or headlamp
- Personal gear: clothing, indoor footwear, accessories, toiletries and towels
- Personal safety items: whistle, first aid kit, sunscreen and bug repellant
- Cookware, dishware, utensils, cooler, food and drinks, reusable water bottles, etc.
- Entertainment items (i.e. binoculars, books, cards or sporting equipment, etc.)
- Other (matches or lighter; rope; hatchet and fire starters, etc.)
Things to keep in mind
Temperature
- For your own comfort please note that oTENTiks get hot in the summer and cold in shoulder seasons
- Be prepared by bringing either night time clothes that will be warm or cool
- If staying in the spring or fall, consider packing an extra blanket
Food
- Cookware, dishware and utensil are not included
- Food and cooking related items must never be left unattended on a campsite as this will attract wildlife
- Food cannot be prepared inside the oTENTik
- Each oTENTik has a food storage locker for all food and cookware
- Food should be stored in a hard sided containers in the food storage lockers to prevent smaller animals from getting in
- Ice can be purchased from the Cedar Spring Visitor Centre for coolers

Fire
- Each site has a firepit with a grill for cooking
- Firewood is available for purchase from the Cedar Spring Visitor Centre
- Collecting wood and natural materials from the forest is prohibited
Don't move firewood
Moving firewood, even just a few kilometers to or from a campground, is a common way for invasive insects and diseases to spread. Purchase firewood from the park and burn it in provided fire pits or leave it on-site to avoid transporting pests that may destroy our forests. Help us save forests.
Respect
- While excessive noise is not allowed at any time of the day, visitors should be aware that quiet hours are enforced between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am
- Respect nature: leave nothing but footprints and take nothing but pictures
- Please leave your site as tidy as, or tidier than, you found it
- Review the visitor guidelines and important bulletins prior to your trip
A few rules
In addition to the national park’s camping regulations, Parks Canada oTENTik users must follow a few additional rules:
- To prevent wildlife incidents, no food preparation, food or drink storage, eating, drinking, or cooking is allowed inside the tent. Store all food and related items in the bear proof lockers.
- Smoking is not permitted within the oTENTiks.
- Pets are not permitted within the oTENTiks.
