Where to paddleboard

With its 150 lakes, La Mauricie National Park offers many places to go paddling. However, some bodies of water are more suitable for this sport than others. Choose the lake wisely and in an informed manner. You are responsible for your own safety.

Choosing an activity at your level and for which you have the knowledge and physical abilities to stay safe will ensure an enjoyable experience. Don’t hesitate to ask our team for advice.

Please note that powered paddleboards are not permitted in the park.

Here are a few suggestions for your next paddleboard outing:

Beginner level: Choose lakes with calmer waters

• Alphonse Lake
• Bouchard Lake
• Lac du Fou
• Wapizagonke Lake – Esker sector (basin 1)

Intermediate level: Be aware of the difficult conditions that can be brought on by variable weather

• Édouard Lake
• Wapizagonke Lake – Prevailing winds can make navigation on some basins more difficult

Advanced level: Paddleboarding conditions on this lake are more challenging in terms of prevailing winds.

• Lac du Caribou

* Did you know that Lac du Caribou is located on the axis of the prevailing winds? These winds can quickly gain momentum and create strong waves. They can cause you to drift or even flip over.
