Accessible facilities

La Mauricie National Park

Parks Canada is continually working to increase accessibility so all visitors have the opportunity to enjoy Canada's natural and cultural heritage.

Support and assistance

Access is free for the companion accompanying the person with a disability at La Mauricie National Park. For the free access, the person with a disability must present, for each visit, a valid card from a recognized association or institution.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted everywhere in La Mauricie National Park. They must be clearly identified and be kept on a leash or wear a harness at all times.

    Universal access mat

Universal access mats (Mobi-mat®) are special mats installed at the base of the entrance ramp to the beach that extend over the sand and allow access to the compacted and wet sand at the water's edge. These mats provide a firm, non-slip surface nearly 2 meters wide. This makes access to the lake and beach easier, regardless of the type of wheels.

    Beach wheelchairs

Parks Canada offers a floating wheelchair for rent free of charge. The wheelchair is specifically designed to allow users to get into the water. Users can adjust the backrest to one of three positions, allowing them to choose the position that best suits them. We strongly recommend that a personal flotation device (PFD) be worn when using the chair.

To have a free access to adapted equipment, plan a stop at one of the reception centers to sign the equipment loan form. Our staff will be happy to inform you about the terms of borrowing.
