The Mingan thistle seeds that will eventually be produced in this garden will be sown in the park reserve to contribute to saving the species.
In the fall of 2018, a special garden was created at the Minganie agroforestry solidarity cooperative, Le Grenier boréal. Grade 3 students from the village of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan and the Innu community of Ekuanitshit sowed seeds and transplanted plants of Mingan Thistle. You can see the Mingan Thistle when you visit the various gardens of the cooperative, Le Grenier boréal. This is quite a chance because growing this endangered species outside of the Mingan archipelago required to obtain special authorization from the Quebec government.
