Pines trail
Kouchibouguac National Park
The Pines trail is a short loop that winds through a part of the Acadian forest that has almost reached maturity.
Majestic white pines line the trail at regular intervals. The acidification of the soil is revealed by the pine needles strewn along a distinct plant corridor.
Miniature pools can also be seen at the bases of knotty hemlock where, according to folk beliefs, tiny fairies would frolic.
A wide variety of mushrooms can be observed in the fall when the weather is damp. This trail is marked for snowshoeing during the winter.
