Kouchibouguac River Trail

This trail, the longest in the park, hugs the south bank of the Kouchibouguac River “the river of the long tides”.

Heading east from Patterson to La Source and then towards the South Kouchibouguac campground, visitors can admire the spectacular sandstone geological formations and the now-famous pine leaning over the river. Numerous small coves along the way provide shelter for ducks. The gently rolling fields sloping down to the river offer an opportunity to observe the fauna. At five points along the bike trail, visitors can branch off for long or short loops, depending on their special interests.

The Sipu primitive campground is located along this trail between Patterson and Middle Kouchibouguac.

A wide variety of birds nest in the habitats found along this trail. Benches offer convenient resting places with panoramic views of the river.

This trail is marked for snowshoeing during the winter.
