Firearms Prohibition Notice
Cape Breton Highlands National Park
Effective Dates: April 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024
Pursuant to section 16(1) of the National Parks Wildlife Regulations, the Superintendent prohibits the possession of firearms within Cape Breton Highlands National Park, except at a private home or inside an automobile travelling through the park on the Cabot Trail Highway. Firearms must be unloaded and in a case or securely wrapped and tied in such a manner that no part is exposed during transport.
This prohibition is in effect at all times.
Failure to comply with this prohibition is an offence under the Canada National Parks Act and may result in prosecution and/or seizure of firearms.
