Canada Day 2023: A time for unity, reflection, and respectful stewardship
Dear colleagues,
Canada Day is an opportunity each year to pause and appreciate the essence of our nation – to reflect on our shared history, appreciate the present, and embrace a future where inclusivity, respect, and equity prevail. Tomorrow, let us celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and languages that shape Canada, and honour the profound stories and ties of Indigenous peoples to this land.
Canada Day and the arrival of summer provide an opportunity to reconnect and celebrate with our loved ones and our communities. There are many activities taking place across the country as part of Canada Day 2023, and I invite you all to participate wherever you are. On July 1, admission will be free at all national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada. I encourage everyone to make the most of this national holiday by learning more about our country’s diverse history or connecting with friends and family in nature.
From coast to coast to coast, on July 1, Canadians will come together in the spirit of unity. May your Canada Day reflect the beauty, diversity, and resilience of our great nation, and inspire a brighter, greener future for Canada. Happy Canada Day!
