La Mauricie National Park

In winter, La Mauricie National Park offers various types of accommodations close to the trails, so you can enjoy your favourite activities for longer. It's the perfect opportunity to relax after a day of cross-country skiing or winter hiking, or to set out early in the morning on snowy trails. Adventure seekers can camp in a tent or in a vanlife camper. Visitors who want greater comfort can stay in ready-to-camp oTENTik tents, in Domaine Wabenaki-Andrew heritage lodges or in the cabins accessible for visitors with reduced mobility. You will discover that a winter retreat at La Mauricie National Park is sure to please!

Winter camping in a tent and in a vanlife camper

Daring visitors can pitch their tent in the snow or take advantage of the unique opportunity to sleep in their own vanlife camper in winter at La Mauricie National Park. These unforgettable experiences are for well-prepared and self-sufficient campers. Here's what you need to know:

 Registration is mandatory and can only be done in person at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre during its hours of operation.

What's available

Only the amenities at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre are available. Washrooms, showers and drinking water are available at all times, while the indoor fireplace and dining room are accessible during the centre's opening hours.

The campsites are not cleared of snow, and the camping loop is groomed and therefore only accessible on foot. Campers must leave their vehicle in the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre Parking Lot nearby.

What's available

An outhouse and a kitchen shelter with wood stove are available.

Fires are permitted only in fireplaces set up for this purpose. You must buy your wood at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre during its hours of operation. Bringing firewood into the park from outside is banned. The centre also has washrooms, showers, drinking water, indoor and outdoor fireplaces and a dining room.

Outhouses are available nearby.

You can warm up at shelters, but it is forbidden to sleep inside them.

Fires are permitted only in fireplaces set up for this purpose. You must buy your wood at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre during its hours of operation. Bringing firewood into the park from outside is banned.

Regulation
Winter camping regulations

In addition to the national park's general regulations, campers must also comply with a few extra regulations:

  • The following schedule must be complied with:
    • Check-in time: between 2 pm and 9:30 pm at campground
    • Check-out time: 11 am
    • Non-campers must leave by 10 pm
    • Quiet time (curfew) is from 11 pm to 7 am
    • Prohibited use of generators from 10 pm to 9 am
  • A maximum of 6 people is allowed on each campground.
  • You must set up your tent on the designated area. Damaging vegetation in any way is prohibited.
  • Subject to fine and/or expulsion, it is forbidden to:
    • behave in a way that disturbs others (partying, etc.)
    • keep one’s site in a condition deemed unsatisfactory by the park superintendant
  • For listening to music in the park, only the use of personal headphones is allowed.
  • The use of generators is prohibited between 10:00 pm and 9:00 am. Outside of these hours, excessive use of generators is prohibited.
  • Pets must be always kept on a leash, in a cage or in a vehicle and supervised at all times. Your pets must be kept inside the tent, trailer or vehicle overnight. They must not disturb campers nearby and must not be a source of harm to people and wildlife.
  • Pets are prohibited in most areas of the park, including trails, backcountry campsites, oTENTik accommodations, cabins and facilities.
  • The animal must never be left alone on a campsite, or in any camping equipment (tent, tent-trailer, trailer, motor home, etc.) in the absence of the person responsible for the animal or a person designated for this purpose.
  • Bringing firewood into national parks from outside is prohibited. It is important to purchase wood from the park and burn it on site.
  • It is forbidden to light or maintain a fire anywhere except in fireplaces. It is forbidden to use dead wood or wood taken from the forest to light or maintain a fire.
  • You must buy your firewood at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre during opening hours.
  • You must collect your garbage and leave it in the receptacles designed for that purpose.
  • It is forbidden to use or occupy as a dormitory: a kitchen shelter, a service building, a rest area or any other building not intended for this purpose.
